    "Portrait of Carl Sandburg. Photograph taken by Edward Steichen and dated 1907. With this photograph was a note that was returned to the Sandburg archive. The note reads: "This print is a gift from Margaret Sandburg, 2/1987. She first sent it to U. of I. Press, to be used as a photograph in the "love letters" book, and the editor Susan Patterson then referred it to me. I picked it up from the art directory 2/19/87. (There was probably no reason for special trip, since it would not appear to be an original print, only a copy, of a Steichen photograph). Additional Note: This 1907 photograph, in 'Sandburg: photographers View Carl Sandburg', page 11, is also in the Museum of Modern Art, Steichen Archive #8 (Grace Meyer provided an 8 x 10 xerox, which is a grainier photograph
